So Matthew and Jill's wedding is over, and we are recuperating. Wedding's are hard, hard work. The morning was beautiful, the brightest, sunniest day we have had for a while. Our hair people came over bright and early, (6;30 a.m.). They fixed Matt's hair really fast, he wanted David Beckhams hair do. Then they styled my hair and Carly's. Liz made Paula's hair all curly and pretty. Kim and Matt left for the temple. We hung out at home for a while because the wedding didn't start till 11:00. Driving to the temple we were pulled over by the highway patrol, because I made and illegal lane change into the carpool lane. He didn't give me a ticket for that, but my passengers in the back got one for not wearing their seatbelts. Didn't want to wrinkle their clothes. The Temple grounds were just beautiful, all the spring flowers blooming. Tulips 3ft high, masses of color everywhere, people everywhere, brides everywhere. The ceremony was very touching and Matt and Jill looked so very happy. All their dreams come true. Kim and Allen were the witnesses. I didn't have any grandparents sitting next to me because grandma was really sick and grandpa stayed home with her. Liz Busath sat next to me, sitting in her role as Matthew's second mother from his childhood. We took pictures outside on the west side of the temple. The felices had to head directly to the JSMB, the old Hotel Utah. Nikki had taken all the flowers over to the luncheon room earlier and some of the flowers had fallen out. The tables were all set with dark plum colored napkins on cream colored tablecloths. When we added the beautiful round balls of flowers it was just georgous. The balls were made out of purple and white hyderange. Nikki worked so hard the day before, I don't know how she pulled the whole thing off. Very stressful. At the luncheon we could see out the windows overlooking the Temple and main street. So so beautiful it is hard to describe. All our favorite people their in attendance, about 78. We had salad, pacific rim chicken with yummy vegies, rice and then strawberry shortcake or choclate mousse cake for dessert. Family members got to say a few words about Matthew and Jill. Matt sang a song to Jill and was accompanied by Tim. "Let my love open the door". Not the best singing but it went straight to your heart. We left the wedding lunch about 4:40 p.m. and went home changed clothes and went straight a way to the Chateau Faire for the reception. The timing was a little squeezed and we ended up taking pictures while the first people waited. The reception was fun but not a lot of room for everyone. Nikki just worked her guts out getting the flowers from the temple to the reception. Paula helped her a lot. It seemed like just hundreds of people came. Interested to know how many because it seemed like 400 to me. Feet were very sore and the house was really hot. I wanted to jump out the window and run away. It took sheer perserverence to get through the night. High heels on a hard wood floor for 3 hours. OUCH. They cut the cake, threw the bouquet, (paula caught it of course) then drove away in a white Limo. They got to Sandiego but we havent heard from them since. Hope they are having the time of their lives.

The Ring

So the girls and me are very excited for the wedding on Friday. We are either going to stay up and watch it at 2:00 a.m. or we will get up. One of the best memories was in 1981 having my first baby Carly and watching the wedding at the hospital. Oh so exciting. I loved and admired Princess Diana so much and actually had a really hard time when she died. I really connected to her in her short life. YIKES I might be passing it on to the girls. I got it from my Mom. I remember her telling me how Princess Margaret had made the news back in the 40's because she had a run in her stocking while exiting a car. The picture was in all the news. She told us all about the Royals her whole life. Santa gave this replica of Diana's ring to Paula for Christmas. She hasn't taken it off for a few weeks, because we are so excited.

Easter weekend

This weekend was a busy one. Paula and I went to another shower for Jill and Matt. I washed lot's of clothes. I have been getting behind on my washing, but i was able to hang all my white linens on the line the other day in the sun. It's amazing how the sun can work to your advantage and bring some sunny brightness back after a long winter. The best bleach there is. And nothing like the smell or the feel. Towels have such better absorbtion, love it, love the sun. Jill got her eyebrows waxed after the shower and we all stood around the kitchen of her cousins house and watched. I am so getting myself a wax melting appliance. It looked pretty easy to me. We went to se the movie "Water For Elephants" with Reese Witherspoon and pretty boy James Patterson. I didn't read the reviews before I went. I think I would give it a straight up 2. Not a lot of chemistry between them. The best part was the villan. Then Easter Sunday. I was in so much trouble from Paula, because we did not do the basket thing. She says it's not fair because the older kids had Easter stuff into thier 20's. But when your the youngest you have privelges that the other kid's didnt get, like a new dress and 2 pairs of new stilleto's. You cant believe the height of one of them. She fell in love instantly. The softball team are having a professional picture taken out by the great salt lake and they are all wearing stilleto's. Funny I know. Wes made Easter dinner and it was not your traditional dinner. It was so fantastic and yummy that I have shown a picture of it. What lucky companion get's him for a cook? I don't think he will have as much time as he thinks.

Today i cleaned my car so well. I actually used my electric toothbrush (i save the old brushes) and cleaned it from top to bottom. It has been outside all winter because our gargage is full of wood for the deck. I hated that. So now the garage is cleaned out and my car is back home. Went to another shower for Jill today. Ward Shower, Jills Mom's side of the family shower, shower at my house. This one was with her Dad's side of the family. They had a big home that looked out over this great big gully in Sandy. She has the loveliest families, both sides. So I am all showered out. Ready for the wedding. NO-- I am not ready. We are still working on a little kitchen downstairs for the newlyweds.
Paula's softball season is almost over at Olympus. They had a hard year because they lost 9 seniors last year. Olympus is being torn down. They are going to start building the new school in the softball field. So next year we will have to find a new place to play for Paula's last year. Everyone have a great Spring and Easter. Don't eat tooo much choclate.

Puff pastry

So the blog is ceated and there is no writing on it. I have just been in the kitchen helping Wes make an Aussie recipe. Sausage rolls. Didn't work out the best. We let the puff pastry thaw out too much. So we popped them in the freezer before they get cut. Yum, I have never served them without everyperson loving them. A guy from Matthew's ward asked if he could help deliver some fliers. Thousands of them. They turned out to not just be fliers, but a post card with a sample of compost attached to them. So I have been helping him staple them together, then he takes hundreds out at a time. He rides Kim's scooter and places them on porches. The compost is really cool. It is all plant matter made from vegetables and fruit. BYU gets all the rotting fruit from Costco stores all over the place. He was happy for the work, because he just ended waiving for Liberty Tax. If anybody out there knows of a Job for Matthew he is still looking.
Wes keeps asking me "when can we go get all my stuff ready for my mission". I told him, not until after May 12th (Matt's wedding). I have to compartmentalize everything or it would be too overwhelming. So I will focus on him later. Paula is out having fun with Rachel today. I think theyt went to a movie and lunch. Spring Break for Granite School District, not for Alpine. Hmmm someone is skipping school today. I think Rachel has senioritis. That's about enough my life is pretty Ho-hum. Going to the jail tonight for our mission. Always an interesting experience. Never have I been around such humble men, and boy's. We are on step 9 of Alcoholics Anonomous.

POTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

This is Kathy and I am writing my very first blog. I have Carly here helping me. She is such a great teacher. My favorite quote from Maya Angelou is "AT OUR BEST, WE ARE ALL TEACHERS."
